Truitt Releases Statement on
Stevens Withdraw from 156th Race
WEST CHESTER – Dan Truitt, Republican candidate for State Representative in the 156th District of Pennsylvania, today released the following statement about the withdrawal of Mark Stevens from the campaign:
“While I am surprised by today’s announcement, I – along with my family and my
supporters – wish Mark Stevens all the best as he deals with his health issues and
hope he has a speedy recovery.
“While this announcement changes the name of our opponent, it does not change
our campaign. I will continue to present my background as a political outsider and
small business owner, along with my common sense ideas about how to rein in a
Harrisburg that spends too much and delivers too little.
“Ms. Smith’s record proves that she is for bigger government, higher taxes and the
status quo. She has raised spending during a recession, ‘balanced’ a budget by
incurring new debt for our children and grandchildren, raised taxes on small businesses
and consumers, and made Pennsylvania so uncompetitive in the job creation market
that our state unemployment rate continues to rise.”
“As Representative, I will continue take a different path: bringing real fiscal sanity
to Harrisburg, focusing the budget on priorities like job creation and property tax relief,
and finally standing up to the entrenched political culture.”
